EDITORIAL BOARD 2024–2026:

PhD, Associate Professor (docent) Susanna Aaltonen’s doctoral thesis was about Finnish interior design. She has extensively researched design and lectured about the history of design.

PhD Ville Hakanen

PhD, MA (Art and Des) Nina Kokkinen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Donner institute (Åbo Akademi University Foundation). She is an expert in the connection between art and religion, the art of the late 19th century and early 20th century, as well as the esoteric spirituality of modern and subsequent art. In addition, she curates exhibitions related to her area of expertise.

PhD, Associate Professor (docent) Marja Lahelma

PhD, Associate Professor (docent) Juhana Lahti works currently as Senior Researcher at the Finnish Heritage Agency. In his research and publications Lahti has focused on the history of modern architecture and planning, especially on the post Second World War decades. He is also interested in questions related to sustainable development and built heritage as well as digital paradigm shift in culture.

PhD Riikka Niemelä is a university teacher in art history at the University of Turku. Niemelä is a researcher of the history of Finnish contemporary art, and her specialities include performance art, new media art, experimental art and phenomenology.

PhD Lauri Ockenström is a university researcher at the Department of Music, Arts and Culture Studies at the University of Jyväskylä. Ockenström is specialised in imageries of old art, symbolism, as well as researching the fields of magic, astrology and occultism. In addition, Ockenström leads the translation working group of Vitruvius’s De architectura.
